Vapour Burns
Messman tried to boil water in a glass jug in a microwave. When he opened the door, the water vapourised instantly and caused steam burns to face. Investigation explained that the rapid heating of water in a microwave oven does not allow time for ‘bubbling’ and that at the first sign of movement (possibly from the door being opened), this process starts instantly.
